Blackberry Blackberry

Our assigned reading, "How to Recognize the Future when it lands on you", touches upon mobile technology and the ways in which it has changed our world today. In class on Monday, and in the forums, we had a great discussion of several ways that mobile technology has changed our lives. Rheingold mentions several ways in which cell phones have developed, he has several examples, from overthrowing a president in one country to basic text messaging. In my opinion, he mentions these examples in order to give the reader some sort of perspective. He wants to give them the idea that cell phones are not only to talk to one another, but they can do many powerful things.
In class on Monday, we were talking about how people are not allowed to have cell phones in gym locker rooms, and we cited examples from the HPER. Ironically, earlier in the week, there was an article in the IDS about a man who was caught with numerous tapes of the locker rooms in the HPER. This just goes to show that people do realize the great power that cellular phones do have, and they are manipulating those advantages in order to please themselves.
Also, no matter how much cell phones have advanced in technology, they will continue to evolve.

The video above is an attempt to show how much cell phones have evolved. As I stated above, they are no longer just a way to talk to one another. You can do almost anything, you can surf the internet, take videos and pictures, and you can even purchase things. Although mobile technology has increased greatly, it will continue to do so.
