"Reach and Elect Someone"

Again, Postman with an interesting article. As much as I don't want to agree with his arguments, I find myself agreeing. "Politics is just like show business." A quote that pretty much sums up his entire argument in the article. I thought about it, and to some extent he is correct. We even talked about it in class yesterday, that throughout the primaries and political debates thus far, they have not really touched upon any issues. Instead of talking about issues, they are just talking about themselves and they are trying to get you to like them, they are trying to charm the voters. At this point in the presidential race, people like people who have composed themselves well. I have even heard people say when referring to a particular canidate, "I don't like him all that much, but he sure does have the look." That right there is a prime example that defends Postman's argument. Politics is show business.
Recently, Ted Kennedy gave his support to Barack Obama's campaign. This was national news, earlier Oprah gave her support to him as well. Chuck Norris has given his support to Mike Huckabee's campaign. All of this, is just show business, it is just trying to win the crowd.
When I was searching for youtube content regarding the election, I came across the perfect video to support my argument, along with Postmans.

There are several forms of media that display political content, and all of them are trying to do the same thing, inform. Sometimes, a political campaign decides to inform you on who they are, as opposed to what they believe in, they are winning an audience.
